Last Friday I took a walk to Riverside Park to meet my husband and catch the sunset. While we were there we heard the faint sound of a drum beat in the distance. In perfect NYC spontaneity, we strolled down toward the music and found an awesome GlobeSonic Summer Night Dance Party.
DJ's were spinning global tunes accompanied by live percussion, people were dancing and color-lighted hoola-hoops bounced around at Pier I at 70th Street. Of course I joined them. I can't tell you how fantastic it was to be dancing freely, feeling the pulse of the music and enjoying the warm summer breeze. This was such a treat, it felt like a vacation!
There is also a cafe at the Pier and we had a bite to eat. They offer anything form the healthy, hummus, or portabello mushroom appetizers to the regular burger and fries.
GlobeSonic will be back at Pier 1 at 70th Street again on Aug 15th and Sept 12, 2008. This is a free event that is hosted by the NYC Depart of Parks and Recreation.
