When Professional dancers work; either teaching dance, rehearsing for performance or preparing for competition, it is often “sports specific” in that it trains the body for that particular activity. For example, a competitive dancer that dances “jive” has incredible cardiovascular endurance for high intensity movement that lasts anywhere from three minutes or more. On the other hand a “theater arts” performer that works with several lifts and dips may have a bit less intensity in cardiovascular activity but, instead has highly intense core strength in order to hold themselves and/or their partners up for lifts. A Ballet master perhaps has great turnout and flexibility compared to a tap or jazz dance instructor who would have completely other strengths and weaknesses. Ok, I could keep going but, I’m sure you get my point.
That said, it is always important for dancers to include other activates to
develop a more balanced and well-rounded level of fitness.
These personal
interviews will highlight “the secrets”, to the dancer’s body.
Read on to find out what
the dancers do to be fit…
