Sunday Bliss

Picture this:

It's 3 PM on Sunday afternoon. It is a beautiful fall day; 58 degrees and I'm taking an "after brunch" stroll in Central Park (NYC) with my boyfriend, David.
As we make our way through the park, we come across the skaters and stop to watch and dance a little bit on the outskirts. This is not uncommon for us on any given Sunday. But today was different.
As we were dancing "outside the gate" a man came by and invited us "inside the circle".

Now, we had just come off a 12 hour fitness video shoot from the night before, (stay tuned for info on my new Dance Fitness DVD, Dance Strong(tm) The Full Body Workout) my body was aching so badly that it was an effort to walk.

And then we started dancing...the muscle soreness was gone and the tired feeling that came from working until 4:30 AM evaporated like dew off the morning grass.

As we danced and spun around the center, others bounced around dancing freestyle; each one having their own unique experience and the skaters rolled past us in a counterclockwise pattern like dancers on a ballroom floor.

My toes held on to my DKNY slipons for dear life, and my body temperature increased rapidly; as I was wearing a warm, long sleeve, (very fall like) hooded sweater. However, the only thing I was aware of was the elated feeling of Euphoria.

The DJ spun disco classics off old fashion vinyl, the sky above was clear and painted with slightly colored leaves and my smile truly reached from ear to ear.

About an hour later we needed a rest...

We walked a bit to cool down and found a nice bench to plop on. We had a great work out; the fatigue was transformed into an endorphin rush and created a relaxed happiness. As we sat, taking in the beauty of the park, our bodies began to relax again and laughter was the simple result of the natural, feel good endorphins.

It never ceases to amaze me how when we do what is good for ourselves, mind body and/or soul, the rewards are endless.

Now, I'm ready to buy myself some good old "traditionals" (that's skates with four wheels) and join the dance skaters as well!

So, as always I share this with you in hopes to inspire, motivate or create a little spark for you - Be creative, smile and move your body in some way today!
